Mad Monster Party?

We are in full-on Halloween mode over here at Casa K.  Much like Christmas, we start watching all of the holiday specials that we can get our hands (well, dvr) on.  Also like Christmas, there are some ridiculous shows out there.  One in particular that we watched is "Mad Monster Party", which was the Halloween claymation version of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".  Actually, it was much more like "The Year Without a Santa Claus" because it made about as much sense as that one did.  See for yourself...

The Heat Miser (that character that always comes to mind when you think about Christmas):

And here's the trailer for "MMP", which stars all your favorite Halloween characters and, um, Phyllis Diller (obviously):

Confusing things even more, the title has a question mark at the end of it.  I don't know the reasoning behind it, but it makes sense for a movie that makes no sense.

Unfortunately, this year we didn't make it out to a pumpkin patch so I'll just use a stand-in photo from a previous year since I am still quite proud of it.

We've also changed the mantle over to fall and put up the Halloween decorations.

I turned a black cat wine bottle into a candle holder and threw my favorite Dollar Store crows up top.

In the spirit of things, I made chicken with pumpkin seed mole and balsamic roasted butternut squash and pearl onions for dinner, but I'm not sure mole is worth all the extra steps...

Ok, I know I'm only showing two steps, but I promise there's a whole lot more that goes into making mole.  I think I'll leave the mole makin' to Rick Bayless and his absurd amounts of ingredients.
