We are getting so close to being done I can taste it! That's a weird thing to say. I don't really know what it means, so I changed my mind. I now want to just say that we are making great progress and are almost done. I'll start by explaining the more simple project- hanging the wall shelves. Michael hung the wall shelves. Project complete.
The "Hungry Caterpillar" toy and book were shower gifts that go with the room's book theme perfectly. I found the "Alice in Wonderland" illustration in a children's book calendar and framed it. The old copy of the book I already owned.
This next project was a bit more tricky. Not that it was all that hard, just really, really time-consuming. I wanted to do a picture wall above the changing table with different types of book covers and illustrations. Easier said than done. After hours of scouring the internet for the perfect pictures (plus re-sizing, printing, and framing), then having to figure out how to space them all on the wall, this project kind of took on a mind of it's own. Luckily, once everything went up on the wall, I was really happy with the results.
I started by stealing an idea of Ali's by using wrapping paper with the graph lines on the back to help space it all out. When you are a nit-picky perfectionist like me, this is really quite the task and took freaking forever to do. Not to mention that my belly was a major obstruction in getting this done.
Once I was happy with the placement, I outlined all of the frames and put marks where the nails should go. Then we hung the entire thing on the wall and started hammering.
We pulled the paper off the wall, hung up the pictures, and I said a little prayer that all the time I put into this stupid thing had paid off.
Unrelated side note #1: the snow was really pretty yesterday.
Unrelated side note #2: I used one of the prenatal massages that Michael got me for Christmas today and oh. my. god. it was the best thing ever. It felt kinda like this...
... but better. No, I do not think that that is an exaggeration at all, thank you very much.
