Let Them Eat Cake

Back in 2008 when Michael and I got married we had the top of our wedding cake removed and my parents took it home and froze it.  We had planned on having a bite on our one-year anniversary, as per tradition.  Well, things didn't exactly work out that way since we were never in Houston around that time.  As the years passed, that cake went through some tough times.  It even had a venue change when my parents took it from Houston to Austin and back when there was a big hurricane and they were worried the power would go out (yes, we have our priorities straight for sure- leave the photo albums, take the stale cake).  Needless to say, with all of the travelling, temperature changes, and aging, it was probably perfectly safe to eat.  So we unwrapped it...

And unwrapped it some more...

Looks delicious...

It just makes your mouth water, doesn't it?

Here we have our before and after.  I know, you can barely tell the difference.

All I could muster up was a teeny tiny bite.  Michael refused and pretended the entire situation was not happening.

I thought it was supposed to be bad luck or something if you didn't eat the cake, but instead it has to do with having that top layer to serve at the Christening of the child that you should have by your one year anniversary.  Phew, our marriage will survive.
