It's true- we are no longer homeless and finally settling into our new home. I have spent every waking moment (during naptime and bedtime) unpacking, organizing, unpacking... It's exhausting but we are so happy to finally be here. Lots of you have been asking for pictures and I have a few I can share from about an hour before we moved in so it's just a bunch of empty rooms (although, it's still mostly empty rooms, which is what you get when you move from a small condo to a big girl house). Here ya go...
First, here's a picture of the house that was there before. Now that we are living there in the new house, three people have commented that they are so happy the "gas leak smell" is gone. Another woman said that she told her husband "If I'm ever missing, be sure to check the creepy house for my body". I know it doesn't look so bad, but up close you could see that the windows were broken, the stairs loose, and the whole house in general disrepair. Still, I'm a little worried we disturbed some sacred burial ground from all the creepy rumors about this place.
Our new home!
Family room on main floor (looking into living room).
In family room, looking out onto the garage roof deck (common in Chicago since most backyards are tiny).
Wet bar off kitchen (sorry, these are all out of order, but I'm sitting on the floor with the keyboard on my lap so I'm just happy to be getting this done at all).
Living room (aka The Christmas Tree Room)
This is the front coat closet. There was actually a flaw in the design that led to the closet not being big enough for coat hangers, thus the hooks. But let me tell you, it's all about the hooks, people! We are lazy people and don't like hanging up our stuff. Now not only do we keep everything neat and tidy in here but even Miles can hang up his coat.

And there you have it. Once our house stops looking like this...
...we'll have updated photos for ya.
