Five on Friday 10/17

{ONE}
The other day I was changing A's diaper and I could hear M downstairs saying he was hungry.  I told him to find a snack for himself.  I come downstairs to this:
Yeah that's uncooked barley he's eating off the floor.

{TWO}
We now have a hair-down baby.  He's so formal.

Summertime is officially over which brings the Chicago street fest season to a close.  Thank goodness because we have quite enough broken kazoos, inflatable fish, and flammable teddy bears thank you very much.

There are plenty of fall fests in the hood but they are more of the pumpkin-painting, candy collecting ilk.

(loves it)

So some really nice folks stopped by the other day to throw a brick and a pumpkin through two of our windows.  And here's a fun fact.  Usually when you have double-paned windows, they are filled with argon gas, which acts as an insulator.  It also acts as a gunshot sound effect when the window breaks, which is completely terrifying.    Luckily the kids were asleep when it happened.  I can't even think about them being awake, especially considering their play areas were covered in glass.
Upstairs:

Downstairs:
Yes, those are paper curtains.  Feeling a little ashamed.  Focus on the glass, people.
Free pumpkin!

Here's a tip.  When people throw bricks and pumpkins through your windows, don't be watching American Horror Story.  You really don't want to be looking at this guy when it happens.  Take it from someone who knows.

{FIVE}
We didn't tell M what had happened but he was still unsettled by the boarded up windows.  So we did some redecorating.

Does that count as ending on a positive note?

  1. Stopping by from the link-up. Your kiddos are adorable! And, I think my heart would have literally jumped out of my chest if something came flying through my window at night. Holy smokes!
